DOHA: The main draw of the QTerminals Qatar Classic 2026 is set to deliver a week of high-quality squash, with the world’s leading players converging on the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from September 12 to 18.
The prestigious PSA World Tour Platinum event features a star-studded men’s and women’s field, with a total prize purse of $484,000 on offer.
World No.1 Mostafa Asal leads the men’s draw as he continues his quest for a maiden Qatar Classic title. The Egyptian has finished runner-up in the past two editions and will open his campaign against Switzerland’s Nicolas Müller.
Defending champion Paul Coll of New Zealand, seeded second, will begin his title defence as he looks to retain the Qatar Classic crown. Peru’s Diego Elias, the No.3 seed and a two-time Qatar Classic winner, will face American Timothy Brownell in his opening match.
Home hopes will rest on Qatar’s Abdulla Al-Tamimi, who faces former champion Karim Abdel Gawad in the opening round. Al-Tamimi, who recently returned from injury, will use the tournament as part of his preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games later this month.
Salem Al-Malki will also represent Qatar and faces France’s Melvil Scianimanico.
In the women’s competition, defending champion Hania El Hammamy, a two-time winner in Doha, begins her campaign against compatriot Hana Moataz. World No.2 and reigning World Champion Amina Orfi is also among the leading contenders.
Four-time Qatar Classic finalist Nour El Sherbini will face Nada Abbas, adding another all-Egyptian clash to the opening round.
One of the biggest attractions will be the return of former world No.1 Nouran Gohar, who is back on the PSA Tour after a year away following the birth of her first child. She faces compatriot Kenzy Ayman in the opening round.
With an elite field, strong Qatari representation and several compelling first-round match-ups, the Qatar Classic once again underlines Doha’s status as one of the world’s leading destinations for international squash.
