December 28, 2011 - Aamir Atlas Khan collected the
final PSA World Tour title of the year at the
Pakistan Circuit No4 squash event today in Lahore -
but the top seed was taken the full distance before
overcoming unseeded fellow Pakistani Farhan Zaman in
the climax of the PSA Challenger 10 championship at
the Punjab Squash Complex.
While Khan took just 18 minutes to reach the final
after despatching Nasir Iqbal 11-6, 11-6, 11-0,
18-year-old Zaman needed 40 minutes to see off
qualifier Muhammad Saqib Yousaf in five games in the
other semi-final, to reach his second Tour final in
a row.
And the 21-year-old favourite from Peshawar looked
on course for a straightforward victory when he took
a two-game lead in the final.
But, showing no signs of his battle 24 hours
earlier, Zaman fought back to draw level and force
the match into a fifth game decider.
Khan dug deep and used his greater experience to the
full to retake the advantage before closing out the
match 11-4, 11-8, 8-11, 8-11, 11-8 in 52 minutes.
The win marks the sixth PSA Tour title of Khan's
career.
